Title: toploader help
Post by: Blake Scheuneman on August 16, 2011, 05:32:39 AM
My 5 speed from a 89 cummins. It was not wantin to go into creeper (1st) and I pushed pretty hard on it. Well it went into creeper and is stuck. The shifter moves around like it came unhooked. Took the boot off and everythings fine going into the trans. Feels like and sounds like a broken spring? Any ideas here

if you pushed on it hard you could have bent the shift forks?

Sounds like you may have forced the shift fork over the gear... when that happens, the stick feels like its in neutral, but it will actually be stuck in a gear. Pull the top cover off the trans... usually pretty easy to get back in order. ++peace
