well got some new battery for my projectredline truck and when i started it a few time's the top of the battery started to smoke and it burnned the plastic around the stud sticking out of the battery have any addvice oh how to provent this could really use some help thanks guy. ;D
Replace your battery cables and make sure you have an excellent ground. Too small of a ground cable or bad ground or broken cable can cause this problem...it could also be the battery it's self is faulty but unlikely!
My guess would be you have a break in the cable somewhere, every time you hit a pothole or something the cable moves, it would be the equivalent of bending it back and forth many times and eventually some of the strands inside the cable will break.

Either that or you got a dead short in the starter. Might wanna pull it off and have it tested..

Bad starter can draw a ton of amperage... could make it smoke! Cables could do it too... Certainly sounds like your drawing far too much amperage somewhere. Good Luck! ++peace

yeah ive checked everything the battery is good im just guna go threw all the wire tommoro trace them do really have a choice at this point
good luck bud, i knw allbout electrical problems. just not how to fix em...
Hook a meter between the + and - cables while they are unhooked from the battery and see if you have resistance.
Disconnect the alternator and try it. If that doesnt change it try the starter. You have a dead short to ground. Keep disconnecting things till you find it. Process of elimination.
