buddy of mine has graciously let me barrow his 1990 dodge d150 since i blew my truck up and i told him id get it running right. i got the truck purrin like a kitten but since i removed his battery and replaced it his maintenance required light has came on reading battery recently disconnected. how do i reset this trouble some light and i doubt he would be happy with me taking the light out or using black tape lol any ideas??
thanks for any input.
Probably have to use a scanner to put the light out. 1990 is most likely gonna be obd1 (Onboard diagnostics) or whatever dodge calls it, and the autozone scanners are all obd2, so unless you have a buddy with an older scanner youll end up havin to go to a shop somewhere. Goin rate seems to be about $40. Im not 100% on this, maybe the dodge guys on here know a trick. ;D
Disconnect the battery and turn the key to crank. It will dissipate all the energy from the system. By the time you get back to the battery, all the caps will have discharged and it will be clear. Otherwise I think 50 run cycles will clear it. Make sure your cables are good and connections are clean and tight or it will never clear.
