Title: 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton

for example i l m looking at half ton dana 44 but i run 3/4 ton   can i use gears and axle shafts from half ton into the 3/4 ton?  i was thinking yes but i wanna make sure

yea im pretty sure olny thing difrent is the hubs

1/2 ton and 3/4 ton are exactly the same with the exception of the hubs. if it's a hd 3/4 than the inner wheel berring is different too and the lock out would be different, but other than that their the same

All your mid 1960's Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4's used the HD dana 44 front axle until mid late 1976. ( some early 1977 model K20's were still equipted with the HD44 front axle)

In 1977...........some late model 77 K20's came with the smaller hub 3/4 ton dana 44 front axles...................all GM did was swap out the outer rotor/hub housing assembly.................and use the smaller 1/2 ton style assembly with small spicer lockout...................so thats the only difference.

But those small hub 3/4 ton dana 44s are kind of rare, because they werent made very long..................because in late 77 early 1978 GM began using the corporate 10 bolt front axle.
