SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) - A tractor-trailer hauling 65,000 gallons of beer burst into flames early Friday morning after striking a guard rail on northbound Interstate 75.

It happened just after 7 a.m. near the northbound entrance ramp of Interstate 675 onto I-75 in Zilwaukee Township.

"I'm driving along and I look over a see a huge black cloud. I knew something was avidly burning," said Alan Brown, who witnessed the aftermath. "As I got closer, I could see the fire trucks. The whole front cab was fully engulfed."

Fire crews extinguished the flames about an hour later, but the charred rig remained on the side of the freeway.

One lane of northbound I-75 reopened to traffic just before 10 a.m.

It not known if anyone was injured in the crash.

Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Transportation officials, Saginaw County Sheriff's deputies and fire crews assisted at the scene.

Amazingly, none of the beer was damaged.
