Title: Seats?
Post by: Disturban on September 29, 2011, 12:38:42 AM
I am looking at buying another Suburban I found, the thing is absolutely mint with the exception of both front leather seats are cracked and worn. Who would you recommend to re-upholster them? I want them to be OEM just like it rolled out of the assembly line, the 2nd and 3rd row seats are perfect.

I am working 60hrs a week right now and the last thing I want to do is pull seats out of a truck and re-upholster them, I would rather pay someone to do it and make sure they look perfect.

you didnt list what year the other suburban is.......but if its pre 1991.... I seriously doubt you could get  pre 1991 vinyl leather......AKA (pleather plastic leather) reapolstry kit from the dealership.

They sold off alot of pre 1991 NOS goodies for the older body style K5's suburbans, trucks

LMC....more than likely has it, but it might not look 100% identicle to the GM vinyl.

This is a 1995, it has driver and passenger heated/power leather seats, the driver seat is ripped and has wear spots and the passenger seat is cracked all over.

The other 2 rows of seats are in excellent condition so I would like to match up the two front seats with OEM leather.

Can I buy the new OEM covers from a GM dealer and just have them install them?

okay so it would be 95-2000, in that case, I bet you could still get it, but it might not be cheap? and I really dont know if the dealership could do that or not?

guess I've always known them to do body work and mechanical work.......but you could always call em and find out.

Either way......if they dont........then call some local body shops........they will know WHO does upholstry work.

Yeah if it comes down to it I will do them myself, I just need to buy the hog rings and the pliers. I am mostly worried about the new leather matching the old leather, I don't want it to look like I just replaced missing front seats with a few I bought off line or something.

The Suburban is friggin mint and I mean mint, it is basically a done deal I am going to buy this truck 1995 3/4 ton, every option available with a 454 and 4l80 130,000 miles...we are just negotiating on the price right now. I low balled him and got it down to $2750 right now but I am trying to get it for $2500, either way I am getting it this weekend or next.

I found a place in South West Mi that does vehicle interior restoration, I am going to see what kind of quote he gives me. I am expecting probably between $800 and $1000 honestly. The seat covers cost about $250 for each seat from what I see online and I am expecting anywhere from $200 to $500 for labor, I don't think it is going to be an easy job they are both heated power seats.
