depending on what your going to do with it? stock axles should be a dana 30 front amc 20 rear maybe a dana 44 rear.

good chances are the rear has two piece shafts, they will not like the 38s at all. maybe some half ton chevy or dodge axles?  1 tons are always the better route to go with 35s or bigger. iv seen 1 piece shafts on a amc20 hold up to 38s and the dana 30 IF your easy.  or if you have a ford 9" id throw that and a d44 front it and run it.

Scout axles also work well. Just need to outboard the front spring hangers.

I am running a 350 in my CJ7. I am running a Stock Dana 30 up front and AMC 20 in the rear. Gears are 3.73s witch helps me out.
But As long s you dont run 35 or larger  and put a limited slip or locked in that rear axle a stock set of CJ5/7 Axles will work just fine.

Best upgrade for stock axles you can do is one piece shafts for the rear and as for the front just go over it and put all new parts in it.
Next thing is Look for a set of Scout Dana 44s.
If you want something a bit wider look for a set of Older Wagoneer Dana 44s with the PS Drop. Other wise your going to have to run a DD T-case

If its a Dana 27 up front then it will not be a AMC 20 in the rear. 76 is when Jeep drop the D27 for the D30 up front as well as dropping the older D44 rear for the AMC 20.
