i always hear about how immature and disrespectful and irrisponsible us teenagers are nowadays. but you never hear about the good things we do and i dont think that is fair to us "good kids" so ive got a story about a great kid.
One of my good friends was up at his dads for his birthday, him and his brother were going to get food and they went through a section of an S curve. AT the end of the S curve there was a early 2000 trailblazer flipped on its side in a ditch. My buddy and his bro stopped and helped the 2 ladies that were trapped in the car and called 911. the driver had broken her pelvis and was hanging by here seat belt so the whole time they were waiting for the ambulance my friend held the lady into her seat to help relieve some of her pain. hes heard enough from eveyone that he is a great and couragous kid for doing this and was offered money for helping and turned it all down saying he really didnt do anything just did what he hoped somebody would do for him.
my friend is a great example of how many of us "good kids" are still out there and i think we should all tell the stories of the good things kids do not just the bad

I agree
yeah i always wonder... the ones that get all the attentions and the applause are the ones that get hooked on drugs and need rehab, or that spend their life going in and out of jail....
wheres our TV show? loll
I have been helping people since I could drive, I have cut back a bit when I'm in Detroit since I've had some close calls with getting mugged for helping others.

Alot of kids who are now teenagers, pick up these immature (bad habits) from lack of discipline as children and not getting their ass beat when they act up. Dont know how many times I've seen some parent being berated by their kid in a store, and not setting them straight as to who is the adult and boss. Instead parents try to bargain with their kids to get em to (act) decent in public.
If you want your kids to grow up right it all begins at a young age. But in most famlies both parents work, and are not there to discipline their kids or are just not their period, leaving the kid to formulate their own ideas of whats right and wrong.
bad kids make better headlines I guess...
plenty of good kids out there with good parents to guide them and they don't care about being on the news or crap like that, they do good things 'cause its right...
Last winter I pulleed a dozen vehicals outta ditches n fields even gave a few a ride home and most of em I had to get my shovel out n dig but I got em, just like you stated I would hope sombody would do the same for me, always willing to help out someone in need

That they do, come snow fly I always have a strap n shovel, last year we were out side messin with sleds n some guy walks up outta nowhere asks if he can get a tug outta the ditch, well he was in a 4ft snowbank in my front yard, tried givin me money I told em don't worry about it, he told me he was suprised I wasn't pissed bc he tore up my yard, took about 20 min to get him out but we got it and away he went, oh he was a pizza delivery guy lol
i might have taken some pizza lol..
I have enoug fun pullin ppl out a ditch, don't expect money lol. Never turn it down tho :P only time I ask for $ is if I got gramps truck. Last few winters been driving cars tho, always the one gettin puulled out. ==doh
I have my 2WD truck which is horrible in the snow, but I've pulled people out and I have also stopped to save people from trying to use a ratchet strap to pull someone out of a byTch. I also have a push bumper which allows me to push people out of the travel lanes.
it's good to see people still helping other people just because it's teh right thing to do
i help people all the time, whenever i can and if i'm able i got no problem helpn people out

Get that BAJA S10 back on the road.................LOL
im not one for talkin myself up but in my eyes i am one of these good kids you mentioned. yea im 25 now but even when i was younger. id always do anything for anyone. hard worker, did good in school. never touched drugs or even cigarettes, and even to this day im still the same way. but the one thing that kind of pisses me off how these good kids are still looked at as bad in the laws eyes. (always breaking the law, doing drugs, etc)
back when i was 17 i was gettin a ride back to my truck from a kid i went to school with. he wasnt a friend just someone i was gettin a ride to my vehicle from. anyways long story short he got pulled over and ended up gettin the car searched. the cops found drugs in the car and arrested the kid. (if i would of known any of that was inthe car i wouldnt have gone with the kid. i hate being around the stuff and walk away anytime it comes out around me) in the process i was cuffed and questoined. the very first thing i was asked was when was the last time i smoked weed. and as stated above i have never touched that or any other drug, and i told the officer that. and of course he didnt believe me and said i was lying blah blah blah. anyways i was let go cuz i did absolutely nothing wrong.
and even to this day for some reason that still pisses me off cuz in their eyes every kid is in the wrong and every kid does drugs, but yet there really are good kids out there that dont get into any of that stuff.

in my opinion age doesnt make you a kid. my dad and grandpa are the people i respect more than anybody because even with their ages, they are just wiser, more experienced kids. they act just like any 17 year old boy would but when they need to act like the men they are.
I think it's awesome when teens set a good example. Even some adults need a good influence in their life. I think the reason that the bad teenagers get most of the attention is because bad gets noticed more than good. Don't worry about what others are saying about the teenagers now a days...just worry about the good YOU are doing for society. Most people are going to judge you, just prove that you are that good teen that they rarely see these days.
Well the good kids are out numbered by bad these days. So they get talked about more. I considered myself a good kid. In high-school I got OK grades didn't party or get into trouble. I look at my friends now that were cool back than and they have gone no where. I was taught to help people out because someday you will need the help and hopefully somebody is there that you helped out. Too many people believe that that should get something for there time and help. As a kid I got my ass beat when I did wrong. So I learned real quick not to mess up. Too many people parents believe that they have to be there kids friend, wrong your there parent act like one. They have enough friends. Was my dad my friend, hell no but he taught me how to be a man and that I respect him for. I'm 24 had my job since high school and have my own house and I help people as much as I can.
I don't think the good kids are outnumbered. Ever hear the phrase "The squeaky wheel gets the grease"? It's true. You hear more about the bad kids cuz people talk about it more. It's not right, and kids need to be praised for doing well. But, at the same time, I have 3 kids. I'll raise them right and I will expect them to be good kids and do the right thing. So when they do, they aren't necessarily looking for the praise and it doesn't always get a "hoorah" from the parents. Adults, parents, aunts, uncles--whoever and where ever you fit into a "good kids" life--make sure you take the opportunity from time to time to remind teens that they are doing well. You good kids out there--keep it up. Karma--it will come back to you. a=f
Im 54 and things are alot different today with our younger society than they were when I was growing up. Sure, as time goes on, we all notice all types of changes around us,some good, some not so good.
Back when I was growing up, you didn't DARE smart mouth either of your parents or ANY adult, for that matter. We didn't wear our ''pants on the ground'' and we had respect for our school teachers and the law.
I was raised and grew-up on the east side of Flint Michigan. Back than, you had no fear of the streets. Today? You would NEVER catch me walking around where I grew-up at. Heck, I don't even like driving around the area anymore either because its infested with '' pants on the ground'' hood rats, drugs, disrespectful youth and punks that think they own the city.
I always try to not judge a person before I get to know them, but the obvious is the obvious. If it looks like a duck and qwacks like a duck, its probably a duck.
My hats are off to all you younger youth who are really out there doing the right things. In todays society, that can sometimes be a difficult thing to achomplish!
