Title: homemade recovery strap
Post by: Air Force Fireman on October 29, 2011, 04:27:27 PM
I am a firefighter and I have some old fire hose. It's 1 3/4" firehose. I have been told it is great as a recovery strap, and I have seen it used in the past. I just wanted to get some more experienced boggers opinions on it. And also, as part of discarding the hose, we cut the coupling off the end. So what do you think the best way to make the loop on the end of it would be? Thank you. a=f

U need the thicker one.  Seen the bigger one used b4....but it was a tractor pulling not a truck, so it was not being jerked on.

I have used a surgeons loop to put a loop on a broken strap as a tempordary fix. I would not use a firehose, it was never designed to be a strap. I recently bought a 6" Keeper strap on Ebay for less than $50 delivered to my house. You can't put a price on safty.

Seen someone this year I think it was use like airplane rope or something. Bout 100 feet long and real stretchy. Myself  I'd use what's made for it. Love my 6x30.
