Title: 99 f250 superduty
Post by: 84silverado on November 14, 2011, 08:57:07 PM
so by my school i saw this truck. its a 99 f250 superduty with a v-10 4x4 extended cab short box. red. its lifted, im guessing about 4 inches? has a tool box in the back and 2 cb whips on the box, red. it has after market tires and  aluminum rims too. the outside is in great condition from what i can tell, and underneath is clean as can be. but heres the catch, its has 248,000 miles on everything. and the person wants $6,000 for it.

im not much of a ford guy so thats why this is on here. anybody know what kidna milage this thing gets? or is there anything bad with these truck? any input appriciated, thanks.

When I had my v10 super duty I loved it! Mine had a programer in it and with stock tires it got a hand caculated 17.5 mpg on the hwy. Had plenty of power, ran excelent, and I would off my cummins in a second for a crew cab v10. Mine had 250k miles and ran just as strong as any I've ever seen. I have a friend that has 3 and all his get over 16mpg on the hwy. I wouldn't hesitate t buy a v10 ford. When I lifted mine and put 36's on it it did drop the milage down to about 15 on the hwy, but that was with 20" wheels and 36" tires.

SEEIN THAT ITS A 3/4 TON LIFTED AND IN GOOD SHAPE FOR $6000 AINT TO BAD. I HAVE BEEN SEEIN THESE THINGS RUSTED OUT GOING BETWEEN $2000-3000. I HAVE HEARD THE V-10 GETTING AS LOW AS 8MPG WHILE TOWING AND 11-12MPG ON HIGHWAY BUT THEN AGAIN I DON'T KNOW THAT PARTICULAR PERSONS DRIVING STYLE. I AM NOT A FORD GUY BUT IT DONT SOUND LIKE TOO BAD OF A BUY.

I never had a single issue with mine, I put a 4" diesel cat back exhaust on it and it sounded amazing! I really like the programmer in it, made it shift perfect and helped with milage too. I regret everyday I sold it. With 33" tires I towed a t200 bobcat with stump grinder, bucket and forks on a talbert tandem axle and got 8mpg doing 75-80 on the hwy, cgvw was prob really close to 30,000lbs. I didn't think it was bad.

Like I sad before, I would off my lifted cummins in a second if I could pick up another crew cab with a v10, there hands down an impressive truck.

well thats cool ;D and it looks like the truck has been babied its life so thats a plus too. tommorow im gunna get the number off the truck and call the owner and ask a few Q's about it and imma ask if he would want to do a trade for my 97 expy. he might say no, but it doesnt hurt to ask!! lol

I'm a chevy guy, but I always liked the Super duty 4x4's.

I would find out if the engine has been REPLACED, if it has, then 6,000 aint bad for a clean 12 yr old truck.

If the motor hasnt been rebuilt........then to me it'd be a tough call, you have a 12 yr old clean truck, that has been lifted (with I assume good tread tires on it) and some other modifications. So that sort of offsets the high mileage.

You can always negotitate on the price, maybe 5500

bottom line when a person is really interested in somthing, they tend to look over other things that might be important later on, or that might not matter to them either way,  high mileage motors dont scare me as long as regular maintinence has been done to them.
