stock vortec springs suck and are about maxed out with the stock cam. comp cams makes a replacement spring, seal, retainer kit that will allow upto 500 lift without machining the heads... I ran this kit on my vortec headed sbc for 3 yrs without issue... cam was 500 lift.. ran damn good with foraged flat tops performer rpm intake and holley 650......
