Title: bad/failing torque converter symptoms?
Post by: 7387chevynut on December 10, 2011, 03:09:49 AM
I am thinking my 90 K5 blazers torque converter might be on its way out the door.

Before I explain what think leads me to think its going bad I wanted to know what to look for.

Just wondered what ( problems ) you guys have had with em in your daily drivers.

drop your pan... look at the bottom of the pan and look for sand like material.. itll feel gritty if you rub it between your fingers... and will be stuck to the bottom of the filter.

What would the sand like stuff be? Is the converter coming apart?  I have a 91 s-10 Jimmy it locks and unlocks at 55 is that a sign of converter going bad?

I don't know about in a dd but in a bogger when mine went out it just seemed like the tranny was slipping, then after replacing the tranny twice because it still was going on I realized that the torque converter was junk, sent it in to coan and all the fins had straightend out
