Title: "THE HANGOVER"
Post by: solid 12 on December 29, 2011, 07:58:35 PM
this is going to be my permenant bogger  ;D i put my 1 tons with 5.13's and 44" boggers..got alot of work to do..i need to move the spring mounts back since the lift spring i got were too long and pushed my shackles back to where they are horizontal right now!  thats why the front tires are not center right now..then i need to get some coil springs for the rear to level it out

thats what my dad said too, but we measured the old springs and they were 45" eye to eye and the new ones are 51" eye to eye and they measured the same from center to eye..everything was good till we put wieght on the suspension..once we did that the rear shackles went from being vertical to being horizontal!

measure from eye to center pin. the wrap on the eye from what i can see goes down that should be the rear. just trying to help.

Hopefully, I will be making the trip to TGW but its going to be a late minute decision. The truck will be ready no matter what but my wife is due the 17th of may and if the doc says there is a chance that she might deliver early I won't risk heading 2 1/2 hours away but if it looks like she will go until her due date then the truck is getting loaded up onto a semi and we are headed out

Well got the crossmember all done, made front d shaft today but because of clocking ring I need to either go up one position or grind away on the drive shaft so it doesn't bind..once that's good just need to weld a few things and change the fluids

Well decided to stay with 1 tons for now...gonna cost to much cash to get everything done and really don't want to wait till end of next year to bog again lol...did find the frame broke on both sides of the front so gonna call it a year and fix that first then build the 4 link for the front.   I also have to go look at a 434 short block to run next year!

Ive always wanted to stroke out to a 434. Big block power small block weight

Me too or at least a 421.  But I can't pass up the deal I can get on this short block so hopefully everything looks good!  Also thinking about running E85 next year too??

Its cheaper than torco, ya just go thru a ltlle more of it. If ur gonna be runnin that much compression with it that motor will rip!
Title: Re: "THE HANGOVER"
Post by: solid 12 on October 04, 2013, 09:15:53 AM
Way cheaper!  With my brodix heads I will be above 13.5-1!   Debating if I want to go to a bigger solid roller cam too?  Looking at a .682, .686 lift cam with rpm range of 4400-7800.  Running a .624 lift cam now.

Trading off some tractor tires I picked up for some 44" groundhawgs tomorrow and picking up 2 beadlock rims from Erik Taylor too.   Wasn't able to work on it over the winter so im deciding if I want to just fix the front or rebuild it by 4 linking it??  Hope to find out this weekend after talking to a buddy about doing it for me.

For a dune truck its best to go 4 link. Takes more work but the ride and control is much better. Especially in the dunes

Dropped the block and crank off today.  Polish the crank and install new cam bearings is all thats needed there.  New bearings and rings then put it back together.
