99 ford ranger 4x4. Howls when im on the gas pedal but goes away when I let off. Sound like its behind me. Going to check diffs and tcase tomorrow. Also driveshaft feels tight. Maybe dry ujoints?
its a ford thing. you wouldnt understand. wheel bearing or rear diff
check fluids in drive train. a dry ring and pinnion. t case, will howl like that. ==dunno just guessing
if it a elect 4x4 it could be in 4 hi. elect motor not swtiching it to 2 hi
could be many thing . rember these are just guesses
That's what I'm thinking Donnie. Dry rear end just hope it's not too late drove it home from whittemore with that noise. I don't think it's in 4hi. But I'll do some looking tomorrow
im just guessing cory. if it not a dry rearend. it going to be somthing else.
yeah i'm pretty sure its in the drivetrain somewhere. I'll check the fluids in everything tomorrow. already planned to change the rear diff. the vent tube was open and full of dirt so i can just imagine whats inside. so might as well check the rest. just hope its not junk and i have to replace anything like that right now. but i'll do what i have too.
is it a stick? could be bearing on input shaft sonoma does that. If its auto, its prolly a dry rearend ==kma
Nope auto trans
Most likely it's rear end.... if not dry then its probably the ring & pinon excessive play. also drop driveshaft and check tolerance on pinon in and out.
THE CHEAPEST AND EASIEST TO TRY FIRST THING IS THE U-JOINTS ON THE DRIVESHAFT..... 9 OF 10 SAYS THATS THE PROBLEM IN MY BOOK. IF NOT THEN IDE GO TO THE REAR DIFF.
the rear driveshaft feels tight no play at all. maybe dry idk. heading out there now to work on it. hope i find the problem and its an easy cheap fix. lol
well rear ujoint is bad and no fluid in diff. gonna pull it apart and see how the bearings are.
Pinion bearings probably spanked.
idk i'll find out in a bit.
what was it?
pinion bearings and the ring and pinion are worn out. they ran it without gear oil.
that sucks, thanks
