can you run tbi with a big cap hei distributor ???

No. The tbi dist has an electronic advance.

The problem with HEI distributor is it is NOT capable of giving computerized signals for the computer to "tell" when to spray the injectors. So without the TBI distributor, the engine will not fire due to lack of fuel, because the TBI distributor is where the crank/camshaft sensor really is.

HOWEVER: You can buy a stand-alone HEI kit from companies like Holley, which CAN use the HEI distributor. Those use a separate computer to fire the injectors.
