Title: Bolt Size Help... 1992 Chevy K1500, 350, 700R4, NP241C
Post by: TBigLug on January 13, 2012, 02:15:43 AM
Had some bolts that loosened up and fell out of my new truck. Can anyone who has an NP241C (it's in a 1992 Chevy K1500) out give me the size of the bolts that hold the front driveshaft on the transfercase and the four bolts that hold the adapter to the back of the tranny (700R4). All four fell out of the front driveshaft somewhere along the line and three of the others backed out and one is gone.

Thanks.

Call Autozone, they might be able to look it up and give you an idea of what size to start with.

They are Metric on mine. The transfer case/tranny bolts are 15mm headed. I guess I could take one out but then I'd have to drive the truck to the hardware with only two left. lol, can't win for losing with that. Driveshaft bolts are all gone so I don't even have one to take up. Worst part is I junked a truck last year that woulda had all the bolts I needed! loll

I wanna. Say they're M10x1.5.    3/8-16 will start to thread in but will stop very soon.    Driveshaft might be M12x1.75. They're usually a fine thread.  Larger bolt...  grab a handfull of bolts from the hardware store.

You were right on about that one. The driveshaft did end up being standard 7/16x???. Or at least close enough for them to work.

Thanks for the help everybody.
