Title: Ford 460 timing

i was wondering if it has the same concept as a sbc 350?    set it to tdc 0 and have rotor pointing to cylinder #1 or  #1 on cap? cant remember which? just a project which i m doing and need to start up the motor once i switched the dizzy

i always pointed it at cly 1 on the cap

Get the #1 cyl tdc on compression stroke, set your rotor in pointed at #1 piston and start there and go counter clock wise

now thats 2 diffy perople telling me 2 different things . cap or piston?

It doesnt matter where you point it as long as you start your number 1 plug wire where the rotor is pointing.

If you point your rotor at #1 cyl, when you put your cap on, the plug wire your rotor is pointing at is number 1 then go counter clock wise. I hope this makes it clearer :)
