anyone have one of these? any regular issues with them? just picked up a 2001
Crank sensors always go bad and they quit, and i hear the 4.7 v8s have cyl head oiling issues, especially if the oil gets sludgy. Small passages equals worn out cams since there SOHC. I think they still put 4.0 liters in em in 01, better motor in my opinion.
Ive done quite a few fuel pumps in higher mileage ones too. Other than that pretty decent rides.
yea this one has the i6 4.0L which in my opinion is a better motor too. lacks in power a bit but there is way more room under the hood and they tend to last forever.
so far i have found the sway bar bushings in back are bad, wont efect drive but does give you a headace on a bumpy road.
Clunk clunk clunk! Yea you def got a nice truck with that 4.0!
OK we got a new problem. messing with the alinement the other night and the battery went died so hooked up jump box fired right up, drove it the next day and it wouldn't start so hooked up jump box again and it cranked but wouldn't fire so we held it to the floor and fired up but wouldn't idle and now every time you start it you have to hold it to the floor. weird for an efi truck.
usually when an EFI is flooded it will need to be held wide open to start, maybe fuel pressure regulator? hook a gauge up to the valve and take a look at the fuel pressure with it running and see if its going up and down. that'd be a place to start in my opinion. and i dunno about a jeep, but i know when my grand marquis battery died it ran rough for a while, while the computer relearned its idle values. maybe someone can chime in with some better info just some thought that came to mind.
When the battery goes dead on a jeep the pcm forgets how to set the iacv, so they loose idle. They usually relearn within a few minutes, but its also possible (being a jeep) that there is an issue with the iacv, or the pcm. I would start with the iacv first tho. See if it set any codes in the pcm for it.
ok well we are going to switch battery's today and see if that changes.
well the battery fixed it. thanks for all the info.
You betcha, i work in okemos and i think every msu student owns a jeep, so i work on those things hand over fist ha. Good luck with er.
what is the bolt pattern on these?
also one other question. we are thinking of getting 2 inch lift spacers but what do you do with the sway bar do you have to modify?
