Title: 208 question
Post by: Jthomas on February 26, 2012, 12:40:08 PM
It came off my 700r4, I want to put it on a th400. Will it even work? Will it mount different to the frame? What do I need to do?

it wont work wrong spline a 208 off a 700r4 will hook to a 350th but not a 400th. but one off a 465 4 speed will work on a 400th

Could I just get another output spline?
Or would it just be cheaper and easier to get a different T case

either get a t case off a 400 or   get a 350th   that t case will bolt on it   or     chnange output on the 400th if u know how to tear into a trans

you can get a 208 or a 205 both are good cases. also they came with 203s but I never liked them.

I'm leaving for beaver island tomarrow. I'll be back in 17 days. I'll think about it, I have to get my trans first.

to bad you dont live closer.  i got a junk 208 that has the right splined part in it ot make it work with a 400.  wouldnt take much to split the case and pull the part out.

Do I have to change the tranny tail shaft? Or parts in the Tcase.

you can change just the part in the t case.  thats what i did to my one 208 i had.   it was attached to a  sm465 trans (which is the same spline count as a 400)  and i wanted to put it on my 350 trans i put in my truck so i jsut swapped out the part in the t case.  real simple to do

thats all I do is just change the input  shaft I have a couple 350 inputs laying around but only have 2 for my 400.  very easy to do then I just reseal them with ultra grey I have have been told I have to use right stuff but ultra grey works just fine.
