Got a new plasma cutter...went cheap though...Doesn't hold on arc at any set psi from 40 to 80psi . Trying to cut brand new piece of steel it will arc and then go out. Over and over again. If it does rearc it will sputter and stop. I cleaned the new peice of steel checked all my connections i also have 2 new water seperators installed on compressor and on plasma cutter and still same results. i cleaned all the consumables . no change. I know my compressor is up to the task. I have it wired for 110 rite now gonna switch it to 220 see what happens. Any ideas?
oh and ive tried various heat ranges to all way up to 50 amps
did you have to put the tip of the gun togother? check that. how are you holding to the steel? can you put up pix of the tip?
nope didnt have to put torch together. Went all back through it today. Switched from 110 to 220 works real nice now. Thing just will not cut with 110. Tried it a few times over tonite cutting anything from 20 gauge sheet metal to 3/8 plate no problem. i also took the electrode out of the torch as it seemed to have a ....well some sort of coating and it worked like a charm. But i wired it for 220 at the same time i did that so dont really know if that made much diffrence. Thanks though
