At the first parma bog last year on my big engine I had the connecting arm on my roller lifters broke and the rollers turn sideways scratching up a couple lobes of my cam, does anyone know of anywhere I could send it to that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I would like to fix this one so I can have an extra for back up, any info is appreciated thank
honestly man don't bother with fixing a cam, just get a new one for the peace of mind and you can pick a better one than the one you tore up.....
Its really not that bad just some light scaring
it's really up to you man, but it's the outside couple thousandths of the cam that are hardened....if those scratches go deeper than the hardened exterior you gonna have a problem... i would replace it if it was me..
I already replaced the cam in the engine but had this laying arouns and thought about trying to get it fixed but if its not going to be worth it them I will junk it
who ever the cam came from should be able to do it easy and its not a big deal seen people regrind for different cam profile to work better and to fix. my buddy matt fixed a bent cam and ran it for 2 years no problems?
Its a comp roller cam but I have heard that they charge more to regrind than they charge to buy a new one that why I was asking if someone new a small business that could do it
? I have no idea but I will ask the guys who build my stuff to see what they say
If u could I would appreciate it
yep no problem!
chuck hirbert regrinds cams, or did i had one done back in the 1996. i thank i had $150.00 into, with shipping both ways. look in National Drag racer. it was done to the same specs. roller cams are not heat tread because its blillet steel, that is why you need bronze gear. you guys thank stock cams. (hydraulic cams & soild cams)
CAll gary henderson at comp cams tell him andy michalik told you to call him. He can fix and regrind around 100 so can schnider cams same price my blown meth motor cam had to be reground 2 years ago we do it all the time
