Title: running tractor tires
Post by: hghrdnhck on March 07, 2012, 07:29:18 PM
I'm building a truck that's going to have tractor tires on it. Thinking about running. 18.4x26" (50") or jumping up to 23.1x26" (64"). I know gears play a roll in it, but about how much hp will I need to run them?

the hp needed will depend on the gear a stock motor will trun them if you got the gear...

I have some 2.5 ton rocks im putting under my truck right now, they have a 6.72 gear and i plan on running 23.1-26's on my truck too with a motor around 400 horse

I have a mid built 400 in the truck now. I'm thinking about dropping a 460 in it if the 400 doesn't cut it.

23.1x26 is to big of a tire for a 2.5 ton axle you will break it

50" Vs with alot of hp is badass
63" with little hp slow, alot hp is like 1200+ with those big boys

Are you going to run 1 or 2 transfercases? That makes a difference in how much horsepower you will need.

Going to run 2 t-cases.

you wont need a ton of motor with all the gear of 2 tcases!

So running 6.72 gears with 2 t-cases I should be alright with about 400 hp and 18.4 (50") tires?
