do you have to cut to firewall to run a sbc in a s10 bogger?
does it make a big difference going from fullsize to s10?
how strong is a s10 frame?
if you wanna go lighter I got a cj5 thats about 1000 lbs with no drivetrain? I had a few buddys run s-10 frames ok.. and some cut the fire wall some moved the body
If you want to get the engine weight of the front axle u will have to cut the firewall to move the engine back far enough to make a differnce, but u don't have to blazers have a bigger engine compartmant than what my bronco 2 has and I put a big block in it without cutting firewall as for the frame they are kinda weak just put the s10 blazer body on the k5 frame
i have put a 400 sbc in a s10 the only thing i cut out was the inerfenderdid not do anything to the firewall
just buy my truck joe and all the works done 4 ya already and u know its built strong lol i ve got a small block in mine with no cuttin of fire wall at all
I had a big block in mine with no cutting
if your curious about it message big al he has built a few on full size frames
joe just buid it already lmao
i got a blazer frame, with a full glass cj5 body mounted to it. add your stuff and go, motor was moved back 9 inches or so for lower center of gravity. its all chevy except for the body ++peace
Ok I got a s10 blazer for a bogger, 2 dr
Is there any frame spots I should deal with?
No u move engine mounts forward leave bellhousing lined up stock with firewall. N run electric fans.
Frame is just as strong or stronger than half ton. The front is boxed all the way to back off front doors. If you want you can box the rest and be even better off.
Look up the "crinkle" spots designed into the frame. Somehwere online there is a pic of the locations. Upto you if you re-enforce there. Just spots in the frame designed to asorb impact/bend in a collison, if you plan to get any air time id recromend it.
The way Joe drives the Damn thing will be in the air 90% of the time lol

RIGHT
Half ton frames are not that stock either, they bend up front where they start to wish bone, and I wouldn't move the mounts forward I would move them back word get the weight off the front end, even if that means to cut the firewall
Downside to movingg motor back is it moves trans n case back, which means custom driveshafts, modifying the crossmember and knocking the fire wall out.
IMO seems like a lot of work to get 100lb off the front axle..

My 454 was back 9". Only time i broke it was with tractors and NOS lol. I think moving it back helped with that
yes it does or he can always extend the front axle forward that how i get a toyota to hold up to a 462 it really makes a differents on breakage in the front end and helps with weight transfer

Spots to take a look at. Mostly between the perches of the front leaf springs. Prolly best way to re-enforce would be just put a couple 2x6'' 1/4'' flat pieces across where the crumple points are and weld all the way around them. ==dunno
I'd box the rest of the frame personally but I dont really care about weight like most ==roll
Sweet I will check them spots out
My 98 frame is boxed all the way to rear axle, I'm going to box the rest
