I thought for a min I was going crazy lol
Hate to say it but I remember that
i remember 39 cents a gallon when i was young
I miss .99 cents a gallon..used to fill my Toyota pick up for $13
I remember 24.9 long time ago
I remember 18.9 cents per gallon in the 60's when we had GAS WARS!
can remember when gas was cheap and had some sweet hot rods now gas prices suk and i drive a 4X4 truck , kinda suks thou still have to go places
I do remember the paying twice it read....also, there was (at least in the Grand Rapids area where I lived at the time) sometimes a limit on how many gallons you could get. Which led to people "topping off the tank" Also remember some of the smaller stations ran out of gas on occasion.
I was born in the 80s but do not remember how much gas was. But I do remember how much it was when I got my license it was 1.50 a gallon...
when I got my license it was $0.58 a gallon. cost $8 to fill my car, cigs were .35
I started driving back in 01 and it was $1.08 max and then after I got out of school in 03 it pecked at around $1.75 and that was just crazy for me. I was driving from Hartland up to Delta College 3 days week.
But I remember gas being around $.89-.99 cents a gallon as a kid. Cheapest I saw it around here was $.75 and that was a Friday and a gas war day. I do remember us getting gas in Missouri for $.39 a gallon in the middle of a huge ass corn field.
Here's one for the kids..
we used to have an attendant fuel our cars FOR US.. ding.. ding
check the oil, wash the windows and check tire pressures..
and each gas station had a garage with a mechanic in it.
i used to work as a pump jockey back in the 80s
we had self serve 97 cents a gal

In the late 90's/early 2000's Grand Rapids still had a station with a full service island. My (very pretty) daughter was in her early 20's, not only did the poor boy working there wash her windshield, check her oil, pump her gas.......when he was done, she had him run inside and get her a bottle of Coke~AND didn't even tip the poor boy. He still was smiling (or drooling) when we pulled away. OH, THE GOOD OLD DAYS :-)
