im starting my new build on a k5 blazer, my current trans and tcase in my shortbed are a th400 2wd, and divorced 205, should i keep that setup and make it fit in the blazer? my rear driveshaft will be even shorter than it is, or my other option is i have a th350 that needs a rebuild, and i have a married 205 that needs bearings and a shift fork, should i rebuild them and help my rear driveshaft lenght, or stick with the divorced setup? with the divorced setup i may only need to build one new driveshaft, with the married setup i will prolly have to build both shafts, plus the cost of getting the trans built.. another benefit of the th350 is it will free up a little more horsepower compared to the th400.... what do you all think?
k5 is kinda short for a divorced t case i mocked 1 up in my bronco and it was going to make for a worse drive shaft angle in the rear. i would go t350 and married 205. you can use the parts from your divorced 205 to fix up the other 205. just my opinion ++peace
i depends what your power is and what your use is. the th350-400 are killer, and will handle alot more power than a 700r4. but the 700 has overdrive so you get better gasmilage. and the 700 has 25% lower gears than the 400 and 350. the cost of buying/rebuilding the 400and350 is alot cheaper than the 700. all parts for the 700 are very expencive. but you could put the money into the 700 and make it handle just as much power, but thats alot of $$$. or when you have the 400/350 rebuilt, you could just have the gears changed in them to suit your liking/use.
i dont really have an opinion for the Tcase, im not up to date on the pros and cons, best go with what everyone says.

Yeah I deff need to measure both ways.. and the parts currently in the divorced 205 came from the married 205, when I bout the divorced case it had a bad bearing and broken shift fork, so I would prolly leave it in one piece and just put new parts in the married case and sell the other
I Got A 2wd Th-400 & Np200 In My K5 With Bout 24" Lift....No Problems, Rear Shaft Is 23"....Toploaders Help The Driveshaft Angle Though
