Took my 87 Chevy k20 for it first decently sized drive over the weekend.
In a 20 to 30 minute period at speeds ranging from 60 to 80 mph, it slowly crept up just past 210 degrees.
Any ideas on what the issue could be and how to keep her cooler?
could be lots of things. need more info, all new or just few changes? it could be timming, t stat, rad, motor lean?
Sounds like worn fan clutch or plugged radiator.
plugged radiator/condensor maybe, generally a fan is useless at 80 mph. does it go above 210? or is that when you pull back the reigns so it wont?
pinging at all at those speeds with throttle tip in? efi or carb? timing related lean conditions can definitely do similar things.

Motor is bone stock except for headers, never been tampered with

I pulled over and set when she got to 210, after about 15 minutes i got going again and stayed around 50-60 and it cooled down.
Pull the radiator out and wash the crud outta the fins, change the thermostat, flush the coolant real good and put fresh antifreeze in, put a new cap on, be happy.
