well sounds like your tcase if its p00 'ing...
Lol shift......
is it manuel lever/ push button fuse -- acuator ?
well put the tcase in Neutral and lock your front hubs.. try to turn the front dshaft.. that'll tell ya if the front is working correctly... then unlock the front end and put the tcase into 4 wheel and try to turn the driveshaft... that'll tell ya if its the tcase..
Lever
I put it in 4x4 and i could not spin the the front axle shafts they lock by a vacuum actuator. Is there linkage or does the front shaft inside the t case lock in from vacuum or cable?
Sorry for the spelling typing on my phone and it sucks
s10's are vacuum to cable. Couldnt tell ya on a dodge..
can anyone tell me what transfer case is in this 231 or241?
Ram shoudl have a np241D or np241DHD
just did some checking around...doesn't sound like vacuum of any sort. i think it has a npP.O.S under it lol
there should be a tag on the backside of it attached the tcase. It'll say on it what tcase it is. I think my dakota had the np231d . Dodge cases are hard to find. Atleast mine was cause it was for a 5 speed. ==doh

YOUR HALF TON 94-01 RAMS had the NP231. 94-2001 3/4 ton and 1 ton used the heavier NP241
I never understood why the hell Dodge put such a little ( jeep ) transfer case in a fullsize truck. Some guys wap em out for the heavier NP241.
Both are aluminum and and have the red and silver ROUND tag on the backside of the case to ID them.
I found a site that says its a np231hd
best way to tell is check the tag... with the 5.9L it should have the np241DHD but it could just be a NP241D
It could have a np231... but dont sound right... seems like if they did it would have been easier to find one for my dakota.
Dakota had a 231 rams had a 231 except with the 5.9l they used a 321hd
241 was for 2500's

proved my point. case closed. LOL
ahh. well sounds like ya got the 231dhd then. it'll be a DHD because its a dodge. If you just look at HD it will probably show you chevy ones too. ==dunno i ran into alot of that looking for one. Jeeps are different too.
idk what to tell ya... dont know how to tell whats going on, you could jack all 4 tires up put it in 4wd and see if the front tires spin... LOL or see what part dont spin... check n see if the front driveshaft is spining, then the front axles, then the front tires... somewhere along the line something isnt working ==roll
Well jad to do a little cleaning and works great!!!! Too much mud and dirt wasnt letting the transfer case engage all the way. Guess I should of did a little digging before I got excited.
