Title: can i clear 44s?
Post by: Jthomas on April 18, 2012, 09:56:50 PM
so i have a 88' k5 blazer with 6'' suspension and 3'' body.

i figured the biggest id be able to go would be 42''. i have 40s on it right now.

but i just say a 88 pickup on CL with the same type of lifts. (6'' sus. 3'' body) and it was sitting on 44s.

would i be able to clear 44s?
what about frame rub?

thanks

Has to do with your wheel backspacing and if the body of the Blazer is sagging on the body pucks and such . . .

Measure how much room you have with your 40s. Every truck is a bit different with clearances.

another thing to think about is how much cutting did they do ???  There's no way they put 44's on that body style truck with 9" of lift without cutting and I don't think you can either but I could be wrong (there's a first time for everything) loll

I had 8" susp and 3" body lift on my '86, lots of cutting to clear my 44's.

I'd didn't appear that it had been cut,(from what I remember)  but I don't want to cut my body at all.

you wont be running 44s unless you buy more lift or just trim..

I had 11" of lift on my K5 and tore the heck out of my Fenders. I also have cut a fender flares and still hit when the frame and body articulated. I just went up to 14" this week and it looks like I'm finally gonna clear them while wheeling. I took about 4" of rear body sag out too.

yea I'm just Gunna keep it how it is. maybe block the springs an inch or so if I ever want to do 42s. but other than that. I'm happy as a clam.

I have an 85 k5 with 15 inches of lift  and my 44 inch boggers look like they should clear pretty good, but I'm still gonna flex it out slow just to make sure!! Cuz I have brand new metal on the front and don't wanna cut it either,

Also keep in mind that not all tires measure the same height, example, my 44 inch ground hawgs were smaller then my 44 inch boggers,
