Title: Looking for work.
Post by: big red on April 21, 2012, 09:08:08 PM
Im looking for work, I have went to websites that are suppose to be temporary services but all I get is calls from either out of state or colleges, I have put in applications at "home depot, lowes, gander mountain, harbour freight, walmart, meijers, toys and babys r us, couple different factorys, walker farms, local green houses. And all without any luck, All had help wanted signs hanging..  My biggest problem is I do not have ANY EXPERIENCE. I am ready to work hard and get payed little to nothing for someone but it has to be a legal job so I can get some experience on my resume.

you got to be more persistant dont just hand in a application call them back or check in with them see if they reviewed ur resume you will probally have a better chance of being hired if you do that show them you are really interested in wotking for them oh and you will usually never get hired at them kind of places through the internet

Well I did call the smaller places, but like home depot and stuff is all internet "they told me", I called all the green houses, couple factorys and harbour freight. But none answered, and i forgot to add i put in application at red robins and Old country buffet, and the manager laughed at me as i walked away

go to the mall and stop at every store there and fill out apps.  Its not going to be a fun day or a fun job but it will get you foot into the working world and get some "job experience" and something to put on a resume

Make sure you have put on your resume any volenter work you have done.  Company's are looking for people who thing outside the box.
Also, take a class in computers at a college, learn how to use a mutli-line phone system and they will look at you differently.  Good luck.

I do put experience on my resume, and as for college that might end up being what i do once i figure out what i want to do for the rest of my life.

dude, not wanting to work with money due to being tempted to take it sounds kinda bad.  To work in retail, or really any other line of work you will havgta handle money.  Kinda limiting yerself to mindless labor otherwise.

in all honesty, i havent gotten many jobs from an application. go hit the local cement guys, or a block layer, or lawn rats, or a junkyard, or go be a titty bar bouncer. there is work everywhere, get off the couch big red!

if you just want a labor job where ya dont have to think much or handle money try discount tire, they are usually looking for someone who won't question whats going on and all you gotta do is handle tires all day ;D

my dads neighbor works there, I went to manpower to get in there a while ago and they laughed at me... I got more experience and recommendations than 90% of the idiots that get hired there. "No offense to you personally"   I didnt take to well at them laughing at me, pretty much got up and walked out of the interview I mean who does that? Alot of my buddies that went to manpower have had about the same experince.
