Post by: jratliff on April 25, 2012, 12:35:24 PM
i have a 93 xj the problem is for the last week i have had to jump the starter to get it to start.
would that be a starter problem or the nss ?

i am by no means a mechanic so any help would help.

souds like nss,     does the solinoid click at all when using the key?    also try puting the shifter in neutral or gigling it around in park if it starts then, then its nss for sure,

If u can jump the starter then the starter is good. If nothing happens when u turn the key u either have a bad ign switch, nuetral safety switch, or a broken wire somewhere.

the solinoid can still be bad, even if it works by jumping it...... been there done that to many times to count

This is also true, good point. Just sayin that the starter motor itself is good. Sounds like hes not gettin any switched juice to the starter to me.
