Title: Cherokee motor into Wrangler
Post by: Air Force Fireman on May 10, 2012, 01:13:09 AM
I have an 88 Cherokee and a 92 Wrangler. I plan on pullin the motor/trans out of the Cherokee and puttin it into the Wrangler. Wrangler was originally a 2.5 and Cherokee is a 4.0  Anyone ever do this or know if there's any tricks I'll need? I think it should go in pretty easy, just not 100% sure. Any thoughts will be helpful. Thanks guys. a=f

Transmissions don't line up.

I'm using the same transmission that is in the Cherokee now. Pullin it all out and puttin it into the Wrangler. So the motor and trans will be staying together all the way through. a=f

you may need the wire harness out of the cherokee......i put a 96 2.5 in a 92 wrangler it runs but runs really bad so i had to get a 96 engine harness but other than that the 4.0 is pretty close to the 2.5
