I can relate! I used ta live in st. Pete. Only for about 8 months or so and when I came back to the mitten everyone told me I had an accent!  I didn't think I did but I did and still do say soda when referring to pop! Lol

FIPs: This is what Michiganders in the southwestern areas of the Mitten (particularly in Berrien County) call people who visit from Illinois. There are a number of FIPs who are actually very nice, but some Michiganders feel they are rude. The term FIP is an acronym for *ahem* "F*cking Illinois People."

can say that is about the only one i use, and funny enough i do live in berrien county, and it is a very common term here from may - September when they go home for the winter season.

also, would like to add FISH Fu----- Illinois p00 Head. lol

that was really interesting.  I did not know that we talk differently then everybody else.  It seems right to me.
What an Eye opener.
