i bought a truck with body lift installed and the throttle linkage is too short to open carb all the way. its a 79 f150 with the solid linkage. anyone already fix this? any help appreciated.
so, thats a rod, not a cable, correct?
yes, rod not cable
Bend the gas pedal upward if ya can ;D
I thought about bending the gas pedal but it already doesn't go all the way to the floor. Plus the rod would still be too high to make a full sweep. I did think about heating up the rod bending a 90 toward carb and bending another 90 vertical and shorten the rod. Do you think it would work?
Yup, sounds like it would. Just make sure when you get done that the throttle blades open all the way when you hold the pedal to the floor (engine off, of course) or disconnect it at the carb, have someone push the gas pedal down and you open carb all the way - that shows you how much to add to linkage so it will reach - cut the linkage and add in a piece of rod and a couple clamps till you can get somewhere and weld it ;D
the MOST improtant thing is to make sure the throttle blades close all the way!!!!!!!

that would be something i would do too.
Cut the rod, remove it, weld an extension in it?

i dont need to make it longer, got to figure out how to get it lowered back down to the carb level
When i did my 78 f100 all i had to do was twist the rod out on the threads and it was fine.
