Title: cutting weight

where are people cutting weight to make there rigs lighter? i am gonna cut the bed floor out, cut the tires, shave any and all brackets off the truck i can find not in use, was just wondering what else guys are doing to lighten things up? bigger engine is not in the budget this year so i am looking for other methods to go faster in the mud lol.

this is a play bog truck so i dont have any rules to follow etc....

you'd be surprised how much old dried up mud can weigh  ==doh

skin everything! box skins and front fender skins anything in the cab you dont need  shorten the truck will help too

Im usin my a/c condenser, evaporator, whatever for the transcooler but keepin the dash in it, theres alotta p00 up under there loll

I have no dash no heating nothing but bars and a shell!   i am still gutting move everyday putting my cage in then anything not in use is gone..  only thing in my truck is a shifter, steering whee, seats and gauges

get rid of the glass, and heat. make a sheet metal visor. cut the inside of your doors out, use the outside handles. cut the top of the doors off also. ditch the wipers, radio, exhaust, mat off the floor, mirrors sun visors, spare tire...

that covers the body... what about axles etc? i already went disc breaks on the 14 bolt...... been thinking about pulling the hubs and turning them down in the lathe.... i removed the fuel tank and went to a fuel cell.... thinkin about ditching the core support and building a tube one....

14 bolt shave kit. Aluminum hubs front and rear. Aluminum rims.

kick the ole' lady outta the truck.. that's at least 100 lbs.  ;D

Fiberglass... panels, all you can replace. it's gonna cost ya though.
and I agree w/ Trent.. dont sacrifice strength for weight.

What size tires you running? What gear ratio in axles?  Are you running any type of ladder bars?  Just like drag racing, getting good traction helps you go.faster!!

cut your tires you can shave alot of weight there and its less rotating mass

39.5 boggers 538 gears and i built an anti rap bar..... its got 8" 63" rear springs on it now.... would love to link it and coil over it but i am thinking thats a winter project

You can shave like 50 lbs off each tire if ya cut then.
