??? It's a ford  ???  More info.  How often does he NOT use the ac seen as it has been freakin hot for a little while now.  Just thinkin it still is using coolant even when ac is off and just hasn't really paid any attention but maybe his secondary elect. fan is not turning on to help keep the engine cool.

x2    the fan should automatically kick on when  the ac is on, also the ac puts a lot of load on the engine, so If he is doing a lot of idling with ac on.... there will be an overheat issue right there especially if fan isn't kicking on.   but I do know them taraus's have a common problem with the head gaskets, so I would start there.    Well really start by looking for any leaks :)
