I got a 55'' LG led/lcd I love it, I have never had a problem with any of their products, I also got a LG surround sound, coffe maker and Fridge loll.
LED is a LCD screen, it is just lite with led's... there Are 2 type back lite and side lite, Side lite will be very slim around 1/2'' but will suffer with quality in center of screen, and brightness. Back lite is what I have and it is 3/4''-1'', this gives you the best screen quality. Get a good one with anti glare if its going to be used in a room with windows, Also get one with a good viewing angle, mine has great picture till about 170 degrees. Do your research on em but I would say do not get a plasma, they are now outdated and weigh a ton!! they also burn out pretty fast and if you leave a picture on to long it will burn it into the screen.
If you are looking to buy one I'd sell ya mine cheaper than you could find anywhere, Its less than 2 years old :)
46" Panasonic plasma in the living room and a 42" Sony Bravia LCD in the bedroom.
I've got a 46" LG led/lcd we've had for a couple of years now, the only thing I don't like is it has an auto-dimming feature that keeps dimming no matter if the curtains are open or shut or its pitch black in the house. Also have a 36" LG lcd in our bedroom, had it a couple.of years now, no issues. Have a 19" led/lcd in the kids room, no issues but then again they are always watching the other two tvs. Had a 42" plasma that lasted 5 yrs. I thing it was a sansui or Samsung can't remember. Hope this helps!

it said most important thing, beside family its a .45!
I have had 4 Plasma flat panel tv's already. All from ABC Warehouse. So I know what has worked for us. First was 42" Panasonic 720p. Got it in 2008. Loved it, till i went to turn it on and it shut itself off and then the power light blinked 7 times. Tried getting it replaced/fixed by Panasonic. No go, looked it up on the internet. Lots, i mean lots of people had issues with there tv's. $1200 wasted on a tv that lasted 2.5 years. I still have it but it just sits there. Panasonic might be better now but not sure. I just stay away. After that we bought a 50" Samsung plasma 1080p. Paid around 1100. Love it. Still workes great today. That is going on 3 years now, no issues. Had a LG for 6 months. Liked it but I replaced it. Just wasn't like the Samsung so we went with a bigger Samsung which is a 58" for our living room. Paid around 1300. Have had that one for 1.5 years and we love it. Great with the HDMI inputs and the picture is amazing. Just remember, with a plasma you must not leave a game paused of video pause for a long time, over a few minutes otherwise it will burn into the screen. I'm sure you could leave it on a little longer than a few minutes but I don't want to take any chances. There is a screen option in the menu to shift the pixels which I suggest using every so often also. I always got warranties on all the tv's also. They are worth it. Well I hoped that helped a little.
my new TV only gets ==wgm ++peace ++peace ++peace
