anyone know where you can get all the info on a vehicle from just teh vin number? not shure exactly what year teh truck is, just that it's a 70's chevy ... thanks
lmc truck in the first few pages of the catalog
thanks bud, still trying to google it, but not getting anything cosistant with sites or with what i have sitting in the shop...
go to lmc site
Look to the 10th character of the Chevy truck's VIN to find the model year. Match the numeral with a corresponding model year on a Chevrolet VIN decoder chart.
see i've found to look at teh 5th letter, the 6th letter and teh 10th letter....# 5 says 1974, #6 says 1977 and #10 says 1978.....
Mine is CKL247FXXXXXX
C=Chevrolet Division
K=4x4
L=350 v-8
2=3/4 ton
4=pickup/van
7=1977
F=Flint Plant
Xs are just a serial number for that truck.
#6 on VIN is what you want for year. # matches year. This applies to 1978 and older without the standardized VIN.
C- chevy
K -4x4
R -400 4bbl
3 - 1 ton
4 - truck/van
7 -1977
Z ??????
that sound right to you guys? that's the best i've been able to find out about it.. but what plant is Z??
Fremont, CA
thanks joe
