If you get too crazy with building a 4.3 or you want to put a nice cam in its going to cost the head will have to be gone thru you will have to take the pressed in studs out and get them drilled and tapped for threaded rocker studs the stock pressed in ones will pull out on you.

so i can use the heads, crank, pistons, rods, intake, cam, lifters, pushrods, from a 350 and use it in a 4.3

not the heads or crank or cam or intake.
X2

The heads are meant for a 8cyl, the intake is also, and the cam will be physically longer because of the extra lobes for the other 2 orignal cylinders.  That is also why you can not use the crank.
I understand you already have this engine, but IMO, I'd just keep the 350. Parts are hugely available and dirt cheap.

4.3s work great and you can make power but its not cheap a 350 would be cheaper to get the power

4.3's are teh same bore and stroke of a 350 so yeah rods pistons and suck, but for the extra cost for the parts why not just build the 350.. it'll end up being cheeper in the long run and youll get a lot more power out of it dollar for dollar....
