Title: Power steering pump
Post by: Jthomas on August 24, 2012, 10:40:46 PM
On a stcok 88' 350 tbi, The bracket that holds the steering fluid, and had the pulley to the block. Will I have to get a different one for a big block? Will this bolt right to a 73' mark VI?
What do I need to do/get?

GM had so many mounts through the years for those pumps, odds are against you. Some brackets are slotted so the bolt tightens into the pump bracket like the one you pictured, and there's some that have slots on the pump bracket that the bolt tightens into the bracket on the engine.

You can always fab new brackets . . .

On a big block the power steering pump pivots on a bracket that bolts to the block in the 2 bolt holes next to the timing cover & has a bracket on the front of the pump that has a slot in it that tightens down on the water pump.

I'd be very grateful if you could measure the distance from the back of the bracket, to the center of the V groove.
