Does the axle have a factory locker in it ???
they all do in my grandpas.if the tires spin a little then you turn it will. Be locked up
U joints often squeek when theyre goin bad....
My 08 factory locker will stay engaged sometimes longer than it should, has for years. My buddy told me it was about to break years ago, still hasn't.

No its not a u joint i know what that sounds like. Its the rear end binding like.its welded and thats that lol. It only did itonce and it hasnt done it again. Hopefully all is good thanks for the info guys
Z71s have rear lockers in them. I bet the locker was just engaged.
Have you pulled the diff cover off to check that it does have a locking differential?
Should just be a G80 code in the glove box . . .
It does have a locker ive just never fekt it do.it befire i didnt know uf i should be worried
I wouldn't worry about it. My 2008 does it at times. My fatherinlaws also in his 2003. If it has over 75k on it I would change the fluid, sometimes it helps, being broke down
Its about to roll 100k

my 02 ive changed the inside yoke one washer seized on it and it was staying ingauged in the corners . a yr later it went again so we put in a detroit clutch locker around 100 000 miles but i snow plow run it harder than most , it hated spinnin then the factory locker engauaged at 50mph wet roades
My duty was doing the same thing, I changed the fluid and put posi additave and it stopped doing it, bought it at napa it was like 8 bux. was eating tires like crazy

Your factory locker unlocks at above ~20 mph if it isn't already locked. It might try to engage, but it won't. This is where a lot of guys blow up their Eaton lockers, thinking they engage at all speeds.
