My 08 factory locker will stay engaged sometimes longer than it should, has for years. My buddy told me it was about to break years ago, still hasn't.

Have you pulled the diff cover off to check that it does have a locking differential?

I wouldn't worry about it. My 2008 does it at times. My fatherinlaws also in his 2003. If it has over 75k on it I would change the fluid, sometimes it helps, being broke down

Your factory locker unlocks at above ~20 mph if it isn't already locked. It might try to engage, but it won't. This is where a lot of guys blow up their Eaton lockers, thinking they engage at all speeds.
