Title: MY D.D/TRAIL RIG/BOGGER
Post by: Merc09 on January 29, 2013, 01:40:42 AM
well I picked this up completly stock at my local car stealership and then I decided too give it a little lift. So I put 3 inch blocks on the rear and tortion keys on the front. Picked up the brush guard from CLIFF for a great deal and then mounted 2-100 watt KC lights on it that I pulled off my buddies bogger before he sold it. Then I did some wheelin and dealin with Chevy racer and got a great deal on my new 33x12.50x16.5 BFG ALL-TERRAIN KO'S on some 10 inch wide wagons. I love this truck. And it still gets about 20 mpg's city and 23 highway. Oh and I threw a spectre lifetime filter on it. It's got 373 gears, and its a 350/4L60E/243. It's got about 178xxx miles on it. But runs strong! I havnt gotton stuck yet and i have gone throught some wicked sh** lol for a 97 Chevy halfton this thing can haul too. I have hauled so many vehicles I can't even count on both hands and some of them were pushing 4 tons! Best truck I have ever owned.

I'm getting a new passenger side fender, passenger side cab corner, new rockers, rebuilding the bottom if the 3rd door, I'm getting procomp 1000 shocks for the rear and rough country 7000's for the front. I got a new tailgate for it I just have to paint it. I want some duty lights and fold out tow mirrors for it but that's going to come later. Oh and I hope to be getting a cold air intake and a hypertech programer in the near future as well. I'm excited about this thing and can't wait to finish it. :)

Back of the case will have a small tag. It will say model, and have numbers. Go look to be sure.

NP241- manual transfercase, shifter is on floor
NP243- electronic transfercase, push button selector on dash,
NP246- electronic transfercase, push button selector on dash w/ autotrac,

If you got a button, not a lever, its a 243. Manual lever is 241.

I have the electronic push button on the dash. So I must have read the tag wrong? Thanks for your help.

I've only hauled that much a couple times and it wasn't for a very far distance just a few miles or so. And I always check oil and trans fluid before I haul anything. I can't afford for something to be low and then I end up blowing something up. It's a z71 so it comes with a trans cooler from the factory. But thanks for your advice!

Just save your money up until you can afford to right axle the truck. Dont waste any money on a ifs lift. , like I did. I hated my 6'' fabtech  lift. Sold that now im running d60 front 10.25 rear 7'' lift and 35's.Rides better now than ever.

Update. ive removed the brush guard temporarily so i can paint it up and make it look nice. someone backed into the side of my truck so the bed is dented in now but my girlfriends dad is going to do all the bodywork to it so im going to fix all the rust. i put a new pitman arm on and new brakes all the way around. i also did both upper ball joints a month ago. im getting new shocks soon and monday ill be putting both inner and both outter tie rod ends on along with new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. oh and new tortion keys. this thing is going to ride like new again!
