We had a meeting at the end of our shift this morning...... they are eliminating 3rd shift at our plant for an unknown amount of time as of now...... almost 90 people are getting laid off sometime in April.....guess I gotta start looking for another job loll. And hope I get a call back when and if that time comes, so I urge you all go on out and take your pick.... go buy a volt, sonic, or cruise loll. And keep us all employed...... ++peace

I feel your pain and dont want to make light of your situation but i got to ask since ive seen all your pro union posts elsewhere ....what are they really doing for you now except collecting dues

Union doesn't have much to do with it, its just like any business, if demand goes down, so does production, it is not cost effective to have people doing nothing, lol there is plenty that already do that, but yes there are times I do wonder why the hell we pay our union reps to do nothing, but its just the name of the game..... but they did get us in starting wage a lot higher than anywhere else, and they are also fighting quite hard now that we be called back first if and when they ever needed us again, as it is now it is a real stupid and lengthy process to even get your door in the door, but even management realizes it would only make sense to try and bring us back first since we have already been trained, and know the jobs, it is no easy task making sure them damn robots stay up and running lol and contrary to popular belief building 500 engines a day is not a job that just anyone can do, as it is now we all are just going to go back into a hiring pool and if we do get called back our seniority starts back at 0, union is fighting real hard to change that too.

I do feel bad for the job loss, what I don't get is the bonus that just got paid out to auto workers, that tells me as we all know price on new cars to HIGH,if they made that much money why not drop price a bunch let more people buy at a fair price and back to work , well good luck hope u get back soon,

It is called a profit share, it happens every year at gm idk about the other companies, but it is only for per ante employees, no management, they get their own stupid bonuses, but as a permanent employee you own so muck stock in the company, and it is derived from that, everyone gets an equal share, and well realistically it is a way for gm to get somewhat of a tax break, and a way to get shuffle off excess money, people at work were bithching that almost half of that profit share went to taxes, I was like ya know don't be happy that you got extra money that you didn't earn, while your neighbor can barely put food on his table.... they don't like it when is say stuff like to them but that's me, I tell it like it is lol
that is kind of funny thay just posted a lot of jobs for Gm. michigan works.
