just wondering what everyone considers to be the difference in built not bought. i know there are a lot of great custum fabricators out there that create their rigs from scratch. to me that is built not bought, others buy a truck and install accessories and consider it built not bought. what do you guys think?
I agree with you.... all mine are built
wrench time not bolt on time .. theres a difference you dont have to start from scratch even taken over someone elses rig and finishing it. or paying everyone to built your stuff then mall wheel it.
==dunno I just run it lol. Figure if I'm capable of fixing whatever I break it's a step up from mall wheelers that cant change a tire. ==roll the daily driver has a bolt on kit my buddy installed years ago, I bought it as is. As long as you are having fun what's it matter anyways :P
It dont matter to me if ya buy it or build it. The mall crawlers that buy the lifted trucks with their 20s n think there hot p00 they kinda bug me. I build and do as much as possible to my own motors and transmissions, differential, accessory brackets, ==blah . I take more pride in the trucks ive built vs the ones ive bought just because i can say yeah i made that. Long as your having fun its all good. Just dont brag to me about your tar baby rolling on dubs lmao ++peace

A built truck is just a head start.
Bolt ons or not, you still have to use wrenches to put the parts on
you never really know what your buying,Im on my 3rd frame up build, not everyone has the skills or tools to do such, but whichever you choose the end result is to have fun and enjoy it and pull your buddies out so you have braggin rights, lol Bog on fellow wheelers
You could be smart with your money, and buy something for 1/2 of what it would cost to build it. Or you could have pride in building it. Either way, as long as you get it into a pit, or going down the track, you're doing better than most.
Built or bought makes no difference to me if i had the money id pay to have everything done and give to p00 's what anyone said about it

exactly, i dont mind wheeling or driving someone elses blood sweat n tears if i pay for it in cash. alot of times people like to wheel or cars in general, but cant fabricate or have the space/ time / know how to do so, either way run what you got!
there is no right or wrong to this. its just to have fun!!!
I have done all aspects of building trucks. Total axle up builds. Taking over someones really messed up dream project. And buying a "finished" toy, just to discover it was far from finished.
I agree with the comments about enjoying working on your toys, at the skill level that you have. Its fun, relaxing, and I have never had a truck complain about spending time with it..lol
I have built 8 rigs from scratch, and I am working on 2 more right now. I love making all the parts I can, It gives me a great sense of accomplishment. But when someone buys a toy from me. I get a feeling of loss. I put alot of time and pride in my rigs, and it feels like loosing a family member.
And if you have ever seen my yard, you will know what I am talking about..lol...
I've bought them, built them, currently building them and wheeling them, I take pride in building something, but have no problem hopping in turn key and go!! Lol
it all ends up built in the end and ya gotta buy stuff to build it!
built or bolt on as lonf as you do it your self it all good.... if you have to pay people do stuff for you then its a no no

I work 75-80 hours a week plus drive time Last thing I want a do with my Sunday off is turn a wrench.. I want to turn a key and have some fun don't get me wrong I enjoy turning a wrench every now and then. But at 1 day a week to do so for me to "build" something I'd be dead long before I got to enjoy it..
I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were. I see the saying at the bottom of alot of peoples profile and seems like some people didn't earn it. I don't care if people build it or buy it as long as they have fun playing with it. That's what its all about anyways
Well its part of the fun and experience for me, I work up to 80 hrs a week sometimes and even tho it is hard and takes a long time I can say I did all the work, weather it be bolt on or fabrication. Anyone can go and buy a truck that is ready to run and be done with it or pay others to have it done, to me that is the same as building up or buying a mud truck just for truck shows and they never see a drop of mud..... pointless if you ask me lol but that's a whole different discussion lol
Build its my choice...Mainly because i like doing it.. I do understand about not having the time though, With the new job i have it seems harder and harder to find time to get out in the barn and working 3rd shift even more so to find the ambition to go out there. But, you gotta do what ya gotta do to get out there and GotMud?

I work thirds too lol so yea its hard to find ambition to work on it hell its hard to find time too sleep lol so I feel ya on that, problem I got is when I do get to wrenching on her I loose track of time lol
I prefer to build but bought my last one for a fraction of what it would cost to build. But im paying for that now its still a never ending project fixing every thing they done wrong and improving the truck all around
built is my way from the ground up and with u being the person that built it gives u a great amount of joy when at the end of the day u can still drive urs on the trailer were the guy who had some1 build his truck or mosta his parts gets pulled on the trailer but thats my 2 cents also but like said many times its about havin fun mosta all

X2 TAKES LOTS OF MONEY TWO BUILD THEM HA HA HAD MY TRUCK CENTS 2006 HAVE FUN EVER SUNDAY
Either way, I built mine but even if it was bought, they break and then it has to be fixed and upgraded... so in a way most of the rigs out there end up being built.
it shouldnt matter as long as your playing I have built a few and bought a few and loved them all. as long as you can play who cares!
it is good to say hay i built that but then again its nice to wake up look out side see its muddy as hell go to your truck put a key in it start it up and tare some p00 up at the same time so i can say both dont matter to me im having fun
I buy what I like and upgrade as things break. i try to do things myself but what I can't do I pay to have done. better to pay to have it done right once. then pay to fix my mess up two or three times
I built mine from ground up, so it's built not bought
But if I had to money$$$$, I would proudly have a sticker saying bought not built lmao
It all boils down to pride boys
Eather way have fun, and look out for other wheelers 8)
started stock building as i go
