Title: winch question
Post by: bogginjess on March 11, 2013, 04:30:07 AM
So a buddy of mine just bought a brand new jeep JK and insists that he needs to put a winch on it  ==noob.  Any suggestions on what would be a good choice that is decently priced? He is trying to go as cheap but still good quality as possible.

i got a 12 badlands from harbor freight  2 years ago no prob yet  i think it was like 299 and 80 for the 2 year warranty they go on sale and you can ust the 20% off to get a good deal. the only bad thing about it is it is sloooooow but if you are not in a race no big deal. good for the money

Just remember that cheap and winch do not go together.

Yes, it may still spool and work after a few years, etc...  but if you have a winch, you are depending on it to free you from a  situation... get something that wont let you down.

I have seen "cheap" winches burn up after 150ft of use... and there was still 200' left to get to solid ground.
