Would I be able to bolt a 4L80E trans up to my 5.7L 350 vortec? I have a 4L60E in right now but I want a tougher trans. It's in my 97 Chevy K1500 Z71. What's the differences between trans's besides the 4L80E being stronger?
realy thare not much stronger if any at all just have yours rebuilt with a kit most of the inside parts are the same and all the wireing is differnt so it wont work anyway the id pick the 4l60e any day over the 4l80e the 60 has a stronger better pump then the 80 and the 60 is way better for town driveing the 80 is good for long long hauls on the high way the 80 will over heat faster then the 60 hope this helps but they wont inerchange anyway
Well mines not going bad or anything but I have a truck with a 4L80E and I was going to swap them because i just prefer the 80 over the 60 they just seem stronger to me.

why you perfer the 80 its NOT realy any stronger me good frind has a trans shop i help do them ever know and then when im board or laid off work just because the numbers bigger dont allways make it better
I have just had better experience towing with the 80 then the 60 it just seems like they hold up better. I'm not saying there is a huge difference but I figured why not swap em out if I got nothing better to do.
