Title: almost got arrested!
Post by: Merc09 on May 20, 2013, 04:52:48 PM
So April 25 I bought a pistol purchase permit with a check. At the time I knew I had money in my account and is be fine. Well 2 weeks went by and all the sudden I get an over draft fee on my account. So I talked to the bank and got it all straight. So just 2 days ago I get a disturbing phone call from the chief of police saying I needed to bring him the 10 dollars and another 35 dollars for an insufficient funds fee by the end of the day or he is going to go to the judge and request a warrant for my arrest. THREATENING TO ARREST ME OVER 10$! So I told him I was unable to do that because I'm 200 miles from home and painting my ill grandparents house. I told him is be back in 2 weeks and that would be the first place I would go. His exact words were "I can't wait 2 weeks Bro" hahaha what a Dick! So instead of by the end of the day he gave me till Monday "today". I told him I would mail him a check, and for some reason that pissed him off. Lol. So he said no he wouldn't accept my check and I had to drive back to give him cash. I can't afford 160$ worth of gas to pay that so I had to call avcouple buddies and finally one of them was able to pay it for me. This whole thing is stupid because my bank account is set up for over draft protection and it will cover anything that I over draft.

Don't the police have anything better to do than harrass an 18 year old over a 10$ check

You see I was told it bounced the first time. The bank was suppost to cover it but they didn't. So then they tried to cash it again the day before I got my check put in my account and it bounced again. So I got charged overdraft fees 2x from the bank "which I got back" and the insufficient fund fee from the cop shop for 35 dollars. I'm just saying its rediculous he demanded me come home 1.5 weeks before I was suppost to to pay him 45 dollars that he could have just waited untill I got back. And the stores you buy the gun at they can't charge you but police stations charge for a "notary fee" just another way to get more money from people.

if you want to think that then you should say  buying a gun is surrendering then  becuase whether you have your permit to carry or not  they still know if you own a gun.

and as for the purhcase permit.  they got rid of that so why are you required to still get one?   i believe it was the first of the year that you werent required to go to your sheriffs department to get a purchase permit.  all of that is taken care of at the place you buy your gun.

also getting your cpl (permit to carry)  has a plus side to it.  i got mine not exactly to carry but mainly for ease in transportation nad to learn the right/wrong things that i may or may not have fully understood from just reading or hearing from people.   if i go to the shooting range i dont have to make sure my gun is unloaded and kept seperate my ammo when i leave.  also if i have a buddy that has a pistol that i want to take out to the range  i can take it without him having to be there with me.   if dont have your cpl then the registered owner has to be with you while you have the gun.

Because i am 18 i can not leagaly purchase a pistol at a ffl dealer only private sales. When you make a private sale you still are required to purchase a permit. Unless you have a cpl.

The extra he's charging you is for his banks returned check fee not your overdraft fee.

A cpl holder is allowed to use another persons pistol, as long as its in writing. Other than that, you NEVER give your pistol to someone to borrow or store. That is your responsibility to keep it in your possesion, whether in a safe or whatever.

x2 on that.  i wasnt saying  id ever lend out my gun or borrow someones gun.  was just saying that is one thing you are able to do if you have your cpl.  doesnt matter how much i know/trust someone  if they want to take my gun to the range ill just go along with them instead of letting them take it.  same goes for me if i wanted to take a buddies pistol to the range.
