I just picked up a 01 Sonoma with the zr2 package. Good shape for its age and being a Michigan truck and it has a plow...anyhow. Its a no start that's why I got it cheap. It cranks but won't start. Security light is on so I know its the damn security system  how do I bypass this I'm sure there is a way.

Well usually gms you put the key in turn it over and let it sit for 10-15 minutes with the key on then the light should shut off turn the key off for 5 seconds and it usually will start but most of the time replacing the tumbler fixes this or even a worn key could make it screw up too hope this helps

Turn key on and leave it in on position engine off for 15-20 min, this should reset the bcm security feature, then turn off key, remove key, the put key key back in, turn to on wait a couple seconds and crank it...it should start....if it starts then stalls within a few seconds or minutes, restart process.....if it does it again I'd recommend disabling the pass lock system.... pretty easy to do...
