Title: camshaft suggestions
Post by: nauss on September 06, 2013, 08:40:19 PM
ok guys I am new to the big block world and I am looking for some cam suggestions. I have a stock 454 that is getting a set of the 781 heads (2.06/1.72 valves fresh outta the shop) 2500 stall 5.38 gears on 44's(truck is 3500lbs. guessing). right now I am looking at the comp cam xe274 in which I would just buy the complete kit with springs and eliminate the rotator cup but I figured I would try and get some suggestions from some people that have down this road already. thanks in advance for everybody's time and input. see yall on turkey day hopefully

sounds like you already got it figured! as long as ya get a cam that has a duration which your carb likes it should tune easy and run good. what carb size ya gonna run 750?

You need to get can that is best suited for your torque converter....you can always dial in a carb to a new cam but you can't change the stall without changing converters :-)
