Title: Brake help on a 98 chevy. 1500
Post by: 73chevytruck on September 11, 2013, 11:17:10 AM
After a trip to the sand dunes I noticed that my brake pedal felt soft and the pedal went almost to the floor. Well I tried to bleed the brakes and found out one of the bleeders were broken off on the front passenger caliper .I replaced the caliper and bleed the brakes made no difference.
I pulled the booster hose off with engine off and it holds the pressure.
Brake light comes on also.

Are the rear brakes adjusted properly? And in working order?

Dumb question but notice any cracks or leaks?

If the pedal went soft before you tried bleeding it,  sounds like the master cylinder is bad.  Get a new master, bench bleed it, and then re bleed at each  wheel.

The truck also has the abs modual box on the fender. It did it out on the sand dunes. I'm going to try a new master cylinder first then if that don't fix it ill get a and modual out of the junkyard

Sounds like the fix.
