Hi Guys,
My 90 K5 already has a rear Eaton posi unit in it, and I can get a great deal on a 88-98 GM 10 bolt rear truck 30 spline posi unit, and wondered if they are interchangeable from front to rear (as long as both have 30 spline shafts) I had one person tell me you can't do this.........another told me you could.
I've never run a front posi unit in any of my trucks, so not sure if a OEM posi unit from a newer 88-98 rear 10 bolt will work in a 90 k5 front 10 bolt.
Because they are both 10 bolts axles, the pigs are the same. One is in the front, one is in the back. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure its do-able
Nope 1s 8.5 n the other is 8.2 front carrier is smaller
No kiddin. I thought they were both 8.5
Put a front and rear on the bench and can see the size difference been there n tried that when i first got into boggen lol would b nice easy way to get a locker in the front

damn,....I thought they were both 8.5 too.................always thought that.
I was looking at a 10 bolt rebuilt posi unit from 88-98 1/2 chevy trucks..........figured they'd be the same as 10 bolt front axles.
if both are full size both are 8.5. never seen a full size 8.2 and we used a 95 carrier in a 91 burban
This is a Yukon front limited slip posi unit for a 90 k5 with a 30 spline 10 bolt front
Manufacturer Part #: YDGGM8.5-3-30-1
This is Yukons for a 95 Chevy 1500 rear with a 30 spline 10 bolt
Manufacturer Part #: YDGGM8.5-3-30-1
I would say yes. But it has to be an 8.5" rear not the 97+ 8.6" rear carrier as those are different
